Dixons chief Browett quits to join Apple
Dixons chief executive John Browett has quit to join Apple.
He will be responsible for Apple’s retail strategy and the continued expansion of the technology giant’s stores and will be based in California.
Browett has been at the helm of Dixons Retail since 2007 and is in the middle of a turnaround plan for the struggling retailer.
He will step down from the role on 20 February and leave the company on 20 April, the company said in a statement on Tuesday.
Tim Cook, the Apple chief executive, said: “Our retail stores are all about customer service, and John shares that commitment like no one else we’ve met.
“We are thrilled to have him join our team and bring his incredible retail experience to Apple.”
The company’s finance chief Nicholas Cadbury also jumped ship last year to join electrical components manufacturer Premier Farnell.
Browett’s role at Dixons will be taken up by Sebastian James, the current Operations Director. Katie Bickerstaffe has been appointed to the new role of chief executive of UK & Ireland.
