Dixons Carphone could offer 1,500 Phones 4u workers jobs
Dixons Carphone is planning to offer jobs to hundreds of Phones 4u employees after the mobile phone retailer collapsed into administration.
Carphone Warehouse has previously announced it will have 1,500 vacancies at the newly-formed company, a four per cent increase in the total number of jobs available prior to the merger, which was completed in August.
While that won't be enough to cover all the jobs being lost at Phones 4u – which as of today employed 5,596 people in the UK – it could be a light at the end of the tunnel for a large swathe of those affected.
In a statement, a Dixons Carphone spokesman said:
We would like to offer our support to the colleagues and customers of Phones 4u.With regards to our Phones 4u shop-in-shop colleagues we hope to help them secure new jobs with us and will be opening up discussions with the administrators to agree what we can do.
