DFS share price grows as furniture chain reports rising sales and profits
Furniture chain DFS posted a surge in sales and profits yesterday in its first set of full-year results since its £540m market debut in March.
The sofa specialist said pre-tax profits trebled to £10.7m in the year to August from £3.6m last time.
Five store openings and strong trading across its Dwell and Sofa Workshop brands helped revenues rise 7.5 per cent to £706.1m.
Shares in DFS, up by a fifth since the float, edged up one per cent as it declared a dividend payout of 9.3p.
The retailer, which opened its fist European store in Holland last year, now plans to capture the UK expat market in Spain after buying DFS Spain, the one-store operation set up by an expat on the south coast in 2003.
