Demand for engineers leads to hiring growth
THE JOB market is booming, new survey data shows.
Professional recruitment firms have 29 per cent more vacancies than this time last year, according to figures released today by the Association of Professional Staffing Companies (Apsco).
The biggest jobs growth was in engineering with a 53 per cent increase in the number of permanent vacancies. Strong growth was also seen in finance and accounting, IT and media and marketing which saw gains of 16, 31 and 15 per cent respectively.
Pay growth across all professional sectors was three per cent year-on-year.
“As we enter 2015, it is clear that the upsurge in vacancies we have recorded throughout the past 12 months is a real indicator of sustained economic stability,” said Apsco chief executive Ann Swain.
