Definitely no international return for Pietersen, insists new skipper
ENGLAND one-day skipper Eoin Morgan has quashed the notion of maverick batsman Kevin Pietersen earning a surprise international recall by insisting there will be no change in selection policy.
Pietersen suggested earlier this week that England’s newly-installed captain wanted to end his international exile, which dates back to February when the controversial 34-year-old was sacked following the disastrous Ashes tour.
Despite enjoying a more cordial relationship with Pietersen than other members of the squad, Morgan is adamant England will not accede to the South African-born batsman’s persistent hankerings for a return.
“I think this is a good opportunity to clear things up, given that Kevin has a lot of opportunity to talk in the media and get his point of view out there,” said Morgan.
“I’m very happy with the group of players I have. I think this is the best group of players we have to drive the England team forward over the next two months in particular.” England were set to start the first match of their tri-series against Australia in Sydney early this morning.
