Contract wins lift Compass
SHARES in Compass Group, the world’s biggest caterer, rose almost five per cent yesterday after it reported strong third quarter figures, boosted by large contract wins in emerging markets.
The group, which caters for everyone from the armed forces to schools around the world, posted a 5.7 per cent rise in revenue in the quarter to 30 June.
Its North American and emerging markets businesses both grew strongly, with revenues up 15.5 per cent. This helped offset tough conditions in Europe and Japan, where sales edged up 0.9 per cent.
