The number of people getting top grades does cast some doubts on whether they are highlighting the best candidates, but that shouldn’t mean widespread reform. If it isn’t broke, don’t fix it.

The current system is too target orientated. It’s not about the all round education you receive. The problem with introducing more university style questions is that you may lose the practical aspects.

There’s always going to be the arguments about grade inflation et cetera but I think they are generally fit for purpose. They shouldn’t be just another hurdle in order to get into universities.
