CITY VIEWS: ARE YOU WORRIED ABOUT SHOPS FAILING?
HANNAH SMITH | DEUTSCHE BANK
“I’m not particularly worried about it as they’re not shops that I tend to go to. It results in less competition for other stores but also doesn’t doesn’t help confidence in the economy so is a bit unnerving.”
CHRIS JUDD | QBE INSURANCE
“I think that retail is expanding too quickly in certain sectors so it is not surprising that some shops fall into trouble. It is different in the city than surrounding areas because the city is always busy so shops don’t suffer as much.”
JOSEPH TOMOUM | CMA SHIPPING
“I’m not worried, although there is potential for monopolies to form. Companies can exploit prices and can gain from other companies’ misfortune. Overall it’s too early to tell so I’m not that concerned with the economy suffering too much at the moment.”
