Otkritie Securities
Otkritie, the UK subsidiary of Russian financial services giant Otkritie Financial Corporation, has appointed Howard Snell as chairman.
Snell joined the broker last year as an executive director, having previously been UK chief executive of Russian investment bank Troika Dialog. He was also previously co-head of the London emerging markets desk at UBS, where he was in charge of debt capital market origination for Russia and CIS countries.
Nomura
The investment bank yesterday confirmed the poorly-concealed appointment of two of RBS’ most senior bankers to its rates trading operations.
It emerged earlier this year that Steve Ashley and Chris Fleming would leave RBS, at least in part due to concerns over the uncompetitive nature of pay packages at the bank in the wake of its bailout from the government.
Ashley will now be global head of rates at Nomura, based in Tokyo, while Fleming will continue to be based in London as global head of rates sales.
Olswang
The law firm has poached Séamas Gray from Pinsent Masons to join its restructuring and insolvency practice.
Gray was previously joint head of the London restructuring team at Pinsent Masons and has advised a number of restructurings, including that of JJB Sports. He also has experience in the banking, property, pensions and healthcare sectors.
JP Morgan
Sébastien Berthon has been appointed as a vice president and senior investor for JP Morgan’s private banking team in Paris.
Prior to joining the firm, Berthon was head of the healthcare equity research team at Exane BNP Paribas.
He has also worked at JP Morgan Investment, where he was in charge of new business generation and relationship management for French pension institutions and corporates.
Future Capital Partners
The alternative investment boutique has hired Alan Cross as a business development manager.
Cross brings over 22 years of experience to FCP and joins from Scottish Widows, where he spent the past 17 years as an intermediary account manager, responsible for promoting life and pension products to the IFA market.
He will be responsible for marketing FCP products including the recently-launched “Future Fuels” renewable transport investment partnership.
Weightmans
The law firm has appointed William Sharpe as a partner to lead its corporate team in London.
Sharpe was previously a partner at Eversheds and has worked as a consultant for niche litigation firm Sibley & Co since 2008. He specialises in private equity deals, public and private company acquisitions and disposals, joint ventures and fundraisings.
