CITY MOVES WHO’S SWITCHING JOBS
Julius Baer
Marion Williams has joined the Swiss wealth management firm to promote its product range to UK clients and focus on third party relationships, including fund platforms and distributors.
Williams joins the team from Threadneedle, where she worked with life companies, platforms, fund of funds, stockbrokers, IFAs and private banks. Prior to that, she was an internal consultant for Zurich Intermediary Group.
Matrix Corporate Capital
The financial services firm has appointed Malcolm Le May as deputy chairman to head up the expansion of its full-service broking and advisory activities.
Le May brings a broad range of investment banking and corporate finance experience in the UK and US, including senior roles at Morley Fund Management, Barclays, UBS and ING. He was most recently head of European and Russian operations at real estate fund manager JER Partners.
The firm has also recruited Matthew Jordan, formerly Dresdner Kleinwort’s deputy head of research, as head of research.
HSBC Private Bank
The private bank’s global South Asian diaspora team has appointed Jafar Hamid as a managing director of key accounts, based in London.
Hamid joins from UBS, where he headed the key accounts desk in the South Asian team, and has previously had experience with Citigroup Private Bank and Credit Suisse. Basit Riaz has also joined from UBS as an associate on the key accounts desk.
Berwin Leighton Paisner
The law firm has appointed Alan Sinyor, one of the UK’s leading VAT practitioners, as a tax partner and head of VAT.
Sinyor was previously director of the international VAT group at the firm’s rival Freshfields.
Barclays Wealth
The global wealth manager has hired Mitch Cox as managing director and head of the global investment and product office.
Cox joins from Merrill Lynch Global Wealth Management, where he most recently headed up the global investment solutions group, having previously run its global private client market investment and origination and structured products origination and sales divisions.
CM Murray
The law firm has appointed Edward Wanambwa as a partner and Anna Birtwistle as an associate.
Wanambwa joins from Clifford Chance and specialises in employment and business immigration law. Birtwistle was previously at Simmons and Simmons, where she worked on a range of employment and partnership matters, particularly concerning discrimination.
