CITY MOVES WHO’S SWITCHING JOBS
Kreab Gavin Anderson
Tom Grimmer has joined communications firm Kreab Gavin Anderson as managing partner, China. Grimmer will be based in Beijing and will advise multinational companies as well as Chinese corporations with international growth plans. He has worked and studied in Asia since 1985, previously working as senior communications advisor, Asia Pacific, to Credit Suisse Group in Hong Kong.
Investec
Investec has announced that Stephen Henry will fill the post of managing director from September. Henry is currently finance director at the bank and has been with the company for 13 years. He will replace Mort Mirghavameddin who will step down after an eight-year period in order to pursue other interests.
Stephenson Harwood
International law firm Stephenson Harwood has appointed Stuart Frith as head of its corporate insolvency and restructuring practice. Frith joins from Leeds-based law firm Brooke North, where he has been a partner since 1989. Frith has gained a wealth of experience during his career and has been involved in a number of significant cases, including the recent collapse of Lehman Brothers, Leeds United Football Club and XL Airways. He was previously president of the Insolvency Lawyers’ Association and is a member of the general technical committee of R3. Frith also sits as a deputy registrar in the High Court.
Gartmore
International asset management firm Gartmore has confirmed the appointment of Leigh Himsworth as Head of UK Equities. Himsworth joins the team from Royal London Asset Management (RLAM) and has over a decade of experience. At RLAM he managed the Royal London UK Mid-Cap Growth Trust. He will join Gartmore in the autumn and report to chief investment officer, Dominic Rossi. Rossi said: “Leigh is a front runner in the UK Equities Universe with a proven track record. This appointment is the seventh senior hire announced this year, further strengthening an industry leading investment franchise”
Deloitte
Business advisory firm Deloitte has recruited leading tax litigator, Fiona Walkinshaw, who will be joining from law firm Reynolds Porter Chamberlian as a partner in its tax practice. Walkinshaw is well established in the field with clients, having been a lead partner in tax and commercial litigation at her previous post. She specialises in fraud, finance, partnership disputes and tax claims and has also litigated EU group cases for over eight years. She joins Deloitte in September. Richard Buck, senior tax partner at Deloitte, said: “We are delighted to be welcoming someone of Fiona’s calibre to the firm.”
