CITY MOVES WHO’S SWITCHING JOBS
Cazenove Capital
Asset manager Cazenove Capital has appointed Marcus Gregson as non-executive director. Prior to his retirement, Gregson was the founding chief executive of HSBC Private Bank. He also held the position of managing director of private banking at Royal Trust Bank. He is currently non-executive director of a number of companies, including Sand Aire and Aerides.
Santander
Santander has appointed Sean Burke to the role of regional director to oversee the bank’s support in Education, Health and Communities.
Burke brings 23 years of commercial and corporate banking experience to his new role and joins the bank from Bank of Ireland, where he was regional director of Corporate Banking for the North of England.
Montello Private Finance
Montello Private Finance continues its growth with the appointment of Ian Thomas. Ian will fill the post of director of property and business development. Montello Private Finance is a private real estate bridging finance business, backed by alternative funding sources. Thomas is a Chartered Surveyor, and joins Montello from Irish property developer Ballymore Group, where he had worked in their acquisitions and disposals team.
Kingston Smith
Accountancy firm Kingston Smith has appointed Mike Solomons as a partner with the firm. Solomons is a licensed insolvency practitioner with 20 years of experience in corporate, personal insolvency and recovery work. He has advised businesses in a number of industry sectors and recently traded a large mail order company via administration. Solomons said: “In these hard times for British business, I’m looking forward to working for a firm committed to providing struggling companies with a solution to their needs.”
Aberdeen Asset Management
Aberdeen Asset Management has announced that Simon Troughton has joined the company as non-executive director. Troughton has also joined the company’s remuneration committee. Troughton was formerly chief operating officer of Fauchier Partners and prior to joining Fauchier, Troughton spent 22 years with Cazenove.
Vodafone
Vodafone has announced the appointment of Wendy Becker as group chief marketing officer. Becker joins from Carphone Warehouse subsidiary broadband provider Talk Talk, where she was managing director. Prior to this role she was a partner as McKinsey & Company looking after the UK consumer practice. Becker will join Vodafone’s executive committee and will report to Michel Combes, chief executive of its European region.
