Advent International
The private equity firm has appointed Marcello Bottoli, the ex-chief executive of Samsonite, as an adviser focusing on opportunities in the retail and consumer sectors, especially branded consumer products, fashion and luxury goods.
Bottoli led Samsonite for five years up until January 2009, during which time he turned around the firm and oversaw its sale for $1.7bn.
Prior to that, he was chairman and chief executive at Louis Vuitton Malletier.
Office of Fair Trading
The OFT has finalised its new senior management line-up, following the appointment of new executive directors Clive Maxwell and Robert Laslett in June.
Sonya Branch, previously senior director for goods, has now returned from maternity leave as senior director for services, while former director of communications Barney Wyld has now become senior director for strategy and communications.
Of the executive directors, Maxwell takes responsibility for mergers, goods and services; Laslett for cartels and criminal enforcement, infrastructure and consumer markets; and Vivienne Dews for corporate services.
Barclays Wealth
The wealth manager has appointed Nigel Riley as head of Barclays Wealth International Direct. Riley has for the past five years worked for RBS International, the bank’s offshore arm, heading up international affluent teams and most recently holding the position of head of strategy.
He is due to take up his new role at Barclays in January next year.
BTG Mesirow
The financial consulting firm, a joint venture between Begbies Traynor and Mesirow Financial Consulting, has hired Alain Le Berre as head of European restructuring.
Le Berre has over 20 years of experience and joins from Huron Consulting Group, where he was European practice leader for restructuring and turnaround.
Grosvenor Fund Management
The real estate fund manager has hired Jeffrey Weingarten as its new non-executive chairman.
Weingarten has been a consultant to the Grosvenor Fund Management board for the past two years. He also has several academic interests and is on the board of the advisory committee of the Wharton School, the university of Pennsylvania and the School of Languages, Cultures and World Affairs at the College of Charleston.
