Heartwood
The wealth manager has appointed Kirsty MacArthur as a relationship director for new clients, a role based in London.
MacArthur joins from UBS, where she was responsible for advising ultra high net worth clients across the sport, media and private equity sectors.
Prior to that, she worked at Coutts & Co, where she was an adviser for asset management, tax planning and credit financing.
Veritas
Mark Rayward is to join the asset management firm next year to head up its private client business in the UK.
Rayward was previously deputy chief executive at Newton Investment Management, with responsibility for private clients and charities. He had previously worked closely over many years with Newton founder Stewart Newton, now a director of Veritas.
He is due to start in his new role in April.
Gartmore
The asset management firm has appointed Jan de Bruijn as head of Asian equities in its global emerging markets team, effective from early 2010.
De Bruijn has 17 years of investment industry experience and has spent the last three years at Threadneedle Asset Management, managing Asian equity long-only, institutional and hedge fund strategies. Prior to that, he worked as a senior portfolio manager at Scottish Widows Investment Partnership.
In his new role, he will assume the management of the Gartmore Pacific Opportunities and SICAV Asia Pacific funds.
Newcastle Building Society
The building society has hired Gary Wilkinson as its new finance director.
Wilkinson, a chartered accountant, built up the majority of his financial services experience at Alliance & Leicester, which he joined in 1986. He initially set up an in-house tax department there and subsequently held a number of positions in finance, latterly as director of group financial control and reporting.
Cardano
The insolvency and investment specialist has appointed Roger Lord and Alberto Marone to its London team.
Lord, who previously worked at Rabobank, supporting its exotic interest rate derivatives trading desk, will be responsible for Cardano’s quantitative solutions and systems.
Marone joins from fund of hedge funds Globefin European Advisors. At Cardano, his role will include assessing equity and credit distressed strategies.
