CITY MOVES WHO’S SWITCHING JOBS
Reed Smith
The law firm has appointed Graham Green as a partner in its employment group in London.
Green joins from rival McDermott Will & Emery, and has also worked in the employment department at Linklaters.
His practice covers all types of discrimination claims, including race, sex, age and disability discrimination, as well as claims over whistleblowing, unfair dismissal and disputes over contractual entitlements.
KBC Peel Hunt
The stockbroker has recruited James Steel and Vijay Barathan to its healthcare investment banking team as a director and an associate respectively.
Both join from boutique Piper Jaffray, where they worked in the European healthcare group focusing on public and private financings as well as mergers and acquisitions.
Steel also formerly worked at Granville Baird and Credit Lyonnais Securities, while Barathan originally trained as a medical doctor.
Execution
Andrew Fisher and Tom Lees are to join the agency broker’s utilities equity research team.
Fisher joins with 13 years of experience in the sector, having most recently headed utilities coverage at Pioneer Investments in Dublin, where he was vice president and a senior analyst. He also previously worked as head of equity
at Barclays Wealth in London.
Lees joins from Dresdner Kleinwort, where he has worked as an associate since 2007.
Cheyne Capital
The alternative asset manager has appointed Tom Wiggin as head of UK marketing.
Wiggin joins from Deutsche Bank in London, where he has worked since 1998, most recently as the managing director responsible for hedge fund relationships in Europe.
Prior to that, he ran Deutsche’s top-rated convertible bond business, managed the convertibles business at Flemings, and also worked at Morgan Stanley and Barings.
Financial Services Authority
The City regulator has appointed Iain Cornish as chairman of the financial services practitioner panel for a two-year term.
Cornish has been chief executive of the Yorkshire Building Society since July 2003, having originally joined the group back in 1992.
He has been a member of the FSA’s practitioner panel since March 2007.
Future Capital Partners
Piers Denne has been appointed to lead business development strategy at the £6bn alternative investment boutique.
Denne has 23 years of financial services sector experience, having previously held senior roles in marketing and distribution with some of Europe’s largest asset management firms, including Gartmore, Fidelity and Threadneedle.
