Collins Stewart
The financial advisory group has appointed a new equity research, sales and corporate broking team, focused on the mining sector and headed by John McGloin (pictured).
McGloin has worked as an analyst for the past eight years at Beeson Gregory and Evolution. He is joined by mining analysts Tim Dudley and Andrei Kroupnik; corporate broker John Prior, who moves over from Arbuthnot Securities; and salesman Matt Hasson.
Commerzbank
The bank has hired Daniel Oakes as its new head of equity capital markets (ECM) for the UK.
Oakes joins from STJ Advisors, where he was a partner with responsibility for the ECM advisory franchise. He has over 14 years of experience across equity and equity-linked products, gleaned at firms such as Nomura, WestLB and HSBC.
JO Hambro
The investment manager has taken on Edward Novis to co-manage its Pepin and Waverton European funds, alongside Oliver Kelton.
Novis started his 20-year career at Cazenove, before joining Morgan Stanley in New York. He joins JO Hambro from Marble Bar Asset Management, where he has been a pan-European portfolio manager since 2007.
JLT Benefit Solutions
Paternoster founder and former Prudential chief executive Mark Wood has joined the employee benefits consultancy as non-executive chairman, effective from 1 August.
Wood founded Paternoster in 2006, after spending four years at the helm of Prudential. Prior to that, he also headed up Axa’s UK business as chief executive, and has held senior positions at Commercial Union and Barclays.
RSM Tenon
The accountancy firm has appointed three new recovery directors to its London office.
Steve Billot joins to head up the firm’s independent business review services, having previously held roles at BDO, the DTI Insolvency Service and Levy Gee. Derrick Woolf, a founding member of the Institute for Turnaround, will be responsible for developing RSM Tenon’s lender services, while Richard Brewer has been promoted to head of compliance after joining the firm in July last year.

The law firm has appointed Tony Sampson as its new head of corporate recovery and insolvency.
