DLA PIPER
The law firm has poached Stephen Hoyle from Ernst & Young to join its London office as a partner and head of UK tax.
Hoyle, a specialist in corporate tax and structured transactions, was a partner at E&Y’s international tax services group. Prior to that, he worked as a managing director in Deutsche Bank’s structured capital markets group, having originally spent 18 years as a tax partner at Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer.
RSM TENON
The accountancy firm has promoted Karen McGrory to the position of director within its tax service line.
McGrory will lead the firm’s new employer solutions team, providing all-round business advice to employers.
She specialises in advising on international assignment policy development and processes, complex cross border tax and social security planning, cross border employer compliance requirements and remuneration planning and structuring.
KLEINWORT BENSON
The private bank has appointed Mark Bright as managing director of its Guernsey operations.
Bright has had a 33 year career in finance, beginning at the National Westminster Bank in London and then moving to the firm’s Bahrain offshore banking unit. He moved to Guernsey in 1993, joining Credit Suisse as a member of the executive board with responsibility for business development.
He has since worked at MeesPierson Channel Islands and Ansbacher, were he was chief executive of the Channel Island business.
SKYLINE CAPITAL MANAGEMENT
The long/short equity specialist, co-founded by former Nevsky Capital analyst Geoff Bamber and Vernon West, previously head of the public sector client business at Barclays, has appointed a new head of research.
David Tovar previously worked as an analyst at Merrill Lynch, initially focusing on European beverages and then on European tobacco and food names.
GRANT THORNTON
Michael Posener, formerly a vice president in the infrastructure team at investment bank Macquarie, has joined the business advisory firm as an associate director in the government and infrastructure advisory team.
His new role will be focused on financial due diligence for bank debt and private equity, private finance initiatives (PFI) and public-private partnerships (PPP), financial scheme structuring and funding agreements.
