Piper Jaffray
The mid-market investment bank has poached Ian Wainwright from Canaccord Adams to join its corporate broking team as a principal.
Wainwright has been a managing director at Canaccord since 2007, and was instrumental in building the firm’s life sciences franchise.
Prior to that, he was in specialist biotech, medtech and pharma sales at Société Générale and also worked at Goldman Sachs, Citi and Man Securities.
London Stock Exchange
The exchange has appointed Kevin Milne as its new director of post-trade services, reporting directly to chief executive Xavier Rolet.
Milne previously held the position of chief executive of Xtrakter, the operational risk management, trade matching and regulatory reporting services provider which was last year acquired by Euroclear.
BLM Partners
The investment firm has hired Jeffrey Iverson as its general counsel and a principal in the firm.
Iverson was previously an executive director in the M&A advisory and merchant banking legal department at Nomural, where he advised on the integration of certain businesses acquired from Lehman Brothers as well as providing legal and regulatory advice to the European and Middle East M&A and merchant banking groups.
IMA
The Investment Management Association has appointed Douglas Ferrans as chairman, Bob Yerbury as deputy chairman and Alan Brown as a board member.
Ferrans, who replaces Robert Jenkins, who has moved to New York to head up hedge fund manager Combinatorics Capital, is chairman of Invista Real Estate Investment Management.
Yerbury is chief investment officer of Invesco Perpetual, while Brown is group chief investment officer at Schroders.
Baker Tilly
The accountancy firm has appointed Andrew Conti as an associate director in its forensics services team in London.
Conti has extensive experience of fraud and accounting investigations, as well as a wide variety of expert witness and expert determination assignments. He specialises in matters relating to white collar crime and corruption, such as money laundering, the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act, procurement fraud and accounting irregularities.
Prior to taking up his new role, he was in the forensics team at Deloitte.
Baillie Gifford
The investment management firm has appointed Richard McGrail, Will Sutcliffe and Nick Thomas to its partnership, effective from 1 May.
McGrail is head of the information systems team; Sutcliffe is a senior portfolio manager in the emerging markets equity team; and Thomas works on the firm’s EAFE Alpha equity product.
