CFA Institute
The Chartered Financial Analysts Institute has appointed Edward Bace as head of education for the EMEA region. He joins the institute from BPP Business School, where he was professor of finance. He has over 20 years’ experience in international finance, and has worked for Lehman Brothers, Standard & Poor’s and the European Bank for Reconstruction. He holds the CFA designation and an MBA in finance and international business.
SAV Credit
The credit card provider is preparing itself for further expansion by hiring Sir Malcolm Williamson as chairman. Sir Malcolm is the former group chief executive of Standard Chartered and former president and CEO of Visa International. He is currently chairman at Clydesdale Bank and Friends Provident and is a non-executive director of National Australia Bank.
He replaces John Crewe who served as chairman from 2005 having first joined the board in 2004. Crewe, a former president of international marketing and development, global financial services group at American Express, will stay on as a non-executive director.
Air Partner
The private aviation firm has appointed Gavin Charles as chief financial officer with immediate effect. He has over 20 years’ experience in both UK and international finance, and was most recently finance director at Miele. Charles has also worked for Remington and Wellness Food, and originally qualified as a chartered accountant at Ernst and Young.
AIG
The insurance giant has appointed former Lehman Brothers’ lawyer David DeMuro as deputy general counsel, overseeing global compliance and regulatory strategies. He will oversee AIG’s compliance and regulatory staff. The firm has also appointed Karen Nelson as chief compliance officer, a role she has filled on a short-term basis since January.
Clifford Chance
The law firm announced yesterday that Jonathan Solomon has been elected the new leader for its London real estate practice for a period of four years, from 1 May. He has been a partner at Clifford Chance since 2000 and specialises in real estate development, investment and joint ventures. Solomon will be taking over the London role from Cliff McAuley who retires at the end of the year. McAuley, who heads up both the London and global practices, will work closely with Solomon over the next six months to ensure a smooth transition between the partners. An election for the global real estate role will take place in the autumn.
Jones Lang LaSalle
The real estate services firm has promoted 42 employees from across the English business and England-based pan European and global business units to the role of Associate Director, with effect from 1 July.
