AFC Energy
The fuel cells developer has appointed Ian Williamson as chief executive and a director of the company, effective from 14 November. Williamson, who will be granted an option of one million ordinary shares when he joins the board, joins AFC Energy from Air Products, where he was most recently hydrogen and bio energy systems director. A well-known face in the industrial gas industry, Williamson’s external positions include president of the European Hydrogen Association.
Advent International
The private equity firm has appointed James Westra as managing director and chief legal officer, effective from 3 October. Prior to Advent, Westra was a partner and co-head of the private equity practice group at Weil, Gotshal & Manges.
Mercer
The HR group’s investment consulting business has hired Matthew Abbott, formerly of Hewitt, Bacon & Woodrow, as a senior researcher in its real estate boutique. He will also become a member of Mercer’s wider manager research team.
StormHarbour
The financial advisory firm has hired Amir Hoveyda as a managing principal, based in London. Hoveyda was most recently managing director and head of EMEA high grade and high-yield debt capital markets at Bank of America Merrill Lynch.
Mazars
Margaret de Valois has joined accounting firm Mazars to launch its global pensions & investment advisory practice within the firm’s actuarial practice. De Valois was previously a client director at Schroders, where she managed the relationship with pension scheme and insurance clients.
The Payments Council
Adrian Kamellard has been appointed as the new chief executive of The Payments Council. Kamellard, currently an executive director within the Cabinet Office, will take up the role on 1 November.
Premier Management
Richard Nolan has been appointed as chief operating officer of the central Asia-focused natural resources investment firm as it plans to invest in gold mines in Kyrgyzstan. Nolan was most recently an equities analyst at listed investment bank Daniel Stewart and Company.
Ernst & Young
The professional services firm has hired KPMG’s Mark Whelan, one of the top dealmakers in the waste and recycling industry, as executive director in Ernst & Young’s environmental finance team.
