Santander
The retail and commercial bank has promoted Robin Foale, formerly the divisional managing director for corporate and commercial banking in Thames Valley & South West, to managing director for its business banking division. In his new role, Foale will review the services offered to small businesses in Santander’s branch and telephone network. Prior to Santander, Foale worked at Barclays for 22 years, where he spent the majority of his career in the business banking division.
Permira
The private equity firm has expanded its investment team in Asia by appointing Alan Chen as head of China and Christian Paul as portfolio director. Prior to joining Permira, Chen was an executive director in the Asian Special Situations Group at Goldman Sachs in Hong Kong, and Paul was a director at Alix Partners in Shanghai.
KPMG
Peter Bate has been appointed as a director in KPMG’s debt advisory business. Bate joins from DE Shaw Direct Capital, where he developed the firm’s mid-market private equity businesses as a mezzanine investor.
Ernst & Young
The financial services company has made three changes to its client-facing team, in response to demand from its London and Bermuda client base. Paul Cooper returns to the firm as an assurance partner after five years as finance director at Hiscox Insurance; Simon Burtwell has been promoted internally to the advisory partnership; and Ben Reid has moved across from Ernst & Young’s performance improvement practice to join the core team as a senior manager.
Savills
The property firm has appointed Gavin Sung, formerly of Chancellors, as head of residential development letting within its lettings team.
Quilter
The fund manager has appointed Jonathan Rawicz as an equity research analyst, based in the London office. Rawicz previously worked for the Nedbank Group Limited, South Africa, most recently as a senior equity analyst.
Williams de Broë
The private client wealth manager has appointed Elissa Bayer as investment director, in its London office. Bayer joins from Charles Stanley, where she has been a director of private clients for three years, and previously held a similar role at Insinger de Beaufort.
Frontier
Frontier Investment Management has appointed Simon Liang as an analyst on its investment team. Liang joins from investment consultant Bfinance UK.
