ASHCOURT ROWAN
The wealth management group has appointed Jeremy Rance, its chief operating officer, as an executive director. Rance, 48, joined Ashcourt Rowan as director of planning in June last year. He led the negotiations on the acquisition of the Co-op Independent Financial Adviser business in October 2010. Rance was appointed as chief operating officer in January, to focus on strategy and planning, operations, IT, HR, mergers and acquisitions and joint ventures.
Barclays Corporate
Barclays Corporate has hired Tom Addyman as a relationship director for its specialist retail & wholesale team. Addyman joins Barclays Corporate from Gulf Finance Corporation in the UAE.
Game Group
Europe’s largest specialist retailer of PC and video games has appointed Russ Shaw as a non-executive director. Shaw, 48, was vice president and general manager of Skype Europe, Middle East and Africa and Mobile from 2009 to 2011. Prior to this, Mr Shaw spent four years at Telefonica SA, initially as marketing director of O2, and latterly as the global director of innovation, following its acquisition by Telefonica.
Post Office Limited
Alice Perkins has joined the board of Post Office Limited, the subsidiary of Royal Mail Group. She will take the chair following its next meeting in September 2011. Perkins will succeed Donald Brydon who will continue as chairman of the Royal Mail Group. Perkins previously had a civil service career culminating in senior roles in the Treasury and Cabinet Office.
Strategic Natural Resources
The AIM-listed South African Coal Company has appointed Phumelele Stone Sizani as a non-executive director.
Sizani has committed most of his life to fighting apartheid in South Africa and was imprisoned on Robben Island with Nelson Mandela for five years. He completed his schooling in prison and subsequently obtained an MA from the University of East Anglia in the UK. From the 1980s, Sizani was politically active and since the end of the apartheid he has been a member of the ANC. He is currently Member of Parliament in the National Assembly.
Norman Broadbent UK
The executive search firm has confirmed that Cathy Bain, the former investment banker, has joined the firm from Stonehaven Search. Bain’s remit includes both investment banking and private equity and she works closely with managing directors Adam Turner and Paul Cook, in these sectors.
