Patron Capital
The pan-European institutional investor has appointed Mark Collins as chairman of its UK investment division, as it looks to invest over £1bn in the UK market over the next year. Collins will also become a partner of Patron Capital Advisers, the investment adviser to Patron’s funds. Collins was formerly managing director of the solutions team in Lloyds Banking Group’s business support unit. He has also been senior managing director of GE Capital Real Estate and chief operating officer at Land Securities.
Merchant Securities
The financial services group has announced the appointment of Dr Robin Campbell as head of life sciences equity research. Campbell has spent over twenty years as an equity analyst in the life sciences sector, and also has ten years experience in pharmaceuticals.
BTIG
The European affiliate of the global financial services firm has hired Matthew Cyzer as president and head of European equities. Cyzer is former partner and head of European equity sales trading at Goldman Sachs in London, and will spearhead the further expansion of BTIG’s European business. Cyzer was also formerly head of European equity salestrading at Deutsche Bank. He began his career in equity sales at NatWest Markets.
Thomson Local
Paolo Giuri has been appointed chief executive of the local media company. He replaces Elio Schiavo, who will become chief executive of Thomson Local’s German-based sister company, Telegate. Giuri joins the company from Europages, Europe’s leading business-to-business online directory, where he will continue to hold the position of chief executive. Schiavo will stay on in his role as chairman of Thomson Directories.
Eden Financial
Victor Polak has joined Eden Financial, the asset management firm, as senior investment director. He will be providing services to Eden’s ultra-high-net-worth clients and family offices. Polak’s experience in wealth management dates back to 1995 and he has spent the past twelve years with leading US investment banks, most recently as senior vice president at Merrill Lynch.
Chargemaster
Europe’s leading provider of electric vehicle charging infrastructure has announced the appointment of Michael Brooks as finance director with immediate effect. Brooks served as finance director of Loans.co.uk from 2001 until its sale to a major US bank in 2006. Most recently he owned MJ Brooks, a financial consultancy. He started his career at Mercer & Hole, and has held positions at AIB Govett and NatWest Corporate Banking Services.
