Accor
Jean-Jacques Dessors has been promoted to chief operating officer of the hotels group for the Middle East, Africa, Indian Ocean and Caribbean Islands, effective from January 2012. Dessors is currently COO for Accor UK and Ireland, responsible for the Sofitel, MGallery, Novotel, Mercure, Ibis, All Seasons and Etap hotels. He has expanded Accor’s UK presence over the last six years by adding 40 hotels to the Mercure chain and launching the MGallery brand with the St Ermin’s hotel in St James.
Hydrodec Group
The Aim-listed oil re-refining group has appointed BP veteran David Robertson as chief operating officer and ex-Linklaters energy partner Lee Taylor as corporate development manager, effective from January 2012. Stephen Harker, managing director, oils and chemicals, will resign from the board for personal reasons at the end of the year, but will continue to work for the group until 31 March 2012 to ensure an orderly transition.
Barings
Baring Asset Management has appointed Matthew Whitbread as an investment manager in its multi-asset team, based in Boston. Whitbread joins from Fundquest Incorporated.
RSM Tenon
The accountant has appointed Craig Simpson as head of tax innovation. He joins from Ernst & Young, where he was an executive director focusing on advising entrepreneurial businesses and high net worth individuals.
Linklaters
Lucio D’Amario has been appointed as head of the law firm’s Italian competition and antitrust practice in Milan. D’Amario, currently a competition law specialist at Allen & Overy in Rome, will join in January 2012.
The Giles Group
Brendan McManus, formerly chief executive of Willis, will start as chief executive of Giles Insurance Group in April 2012, subject to FSA approval. Giles Group founder Chris Giles becomes executive chairman, to focus on developing international and offshore institutional business.
Daniels Silverman
The credit management and debt collection company has appointed Rachel Hart to its client liaison team to advise on debt recovery matters. Hart has spent the last five years working as a paralegal, most recently at Cheesman & Company Solicitors.
BIE Interim Executive
Charles Wilson has been appointed as a director at BIE Interim Executive after spending six years in the interim management division of Penna, where he was most recently a sector head.
