Betfair
Matt Lambert has been appointed as director of public affairs at the gaming group. He will oversee Betfair’s global public affairs strategy. Lambert is currently director of corporate affairs and citizenship at Microsoft UK, responsible for government and political relations, community affairs and environmental practice.
FSA
The Financial Services Authority has appointed Sir Nicholas Montagu as the new chairman of the Financial Ombudsman Service, the service that settles complaints between consumers and businesses providing financial services. Sir Nicholas is currently the chairman of the Aviva UK Life With-Profits Committee, a director of the Pension Corporation and is a former chairman of the Board of Inland Revenue.
Geo Genesis Group
The advisory and investment company focused on emerging markets has appointed Philippe Allain as an executive director. Allain joined the company earlier in the year as co-chairman of the advisory committee; he is also the president of Opencap Brazil.
Garwyn Group
The liability loss adjuster has appointed Artur Niemczewski as CEO, effective from 1 December. He has most recently been working as an adviser in the European insurance sector; prior to this, he was managing director at Xchanging.

ICFR
The International Centre for Financial Regulation has appointed Usha Thorat and Margaret Cole to its international advisory council. Usha Thorat is director of the centre for advanced financial research and learning, Reserve Bank of India, and Cole is a managing director of the Financial Services Authority.
State Street
Keith Burman has been appointed as senior managing director of private equity and real estate services in Luxembourg and Ireland. He joins from Brown Brothers Harriman in Luxembourg, where he was a senior vice president.
