Kingfisher
The home improvement retailer has appointed Mark Seligman, the former European chairman and chairman of UK investment banking at Credit Suisse, as a senior independent director, effective from 1 January 2012. Seligman will step down from his role as a senior adviser at Credit Suisse at the end of the year. He is also a non-executive director of BG Group, an alternate member of the panel on takeovers and mergers, and non-executive deputy chairman of security solutions giant G4S.
Hamilton Lane
Jim Strang has joined the private equity firm’s London investment team as a principal. Strang was most recently director and head of fund investment at Dunedin Capital Partners in London; prior to that, he was head of European buyouts at Gartmore private equity.
Baring Asset Management
The investment firm has announced the launch of its Baring India fund on 7 December, to be managed by Ajay Argal from Barings’ Hong Kong team. Argal was previously lead manager of the Birla Sunlife India advantage fund and the India excel fund.
Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher
Allan Neil has been promoted to partner of the London office of law firm Gibson Dunn & Crutcher, effective from 1 January 2012.
UHY Hacker Young
The accountancy group has appointed Chris Mills as a partner in its London office to lead the personal tax team. Mills was most recently a private client tax director at Grant Thornton.
Aberdeen Asset Management
Justin Kean has been appointed as portfolio manager in the European property multi-manager team, based in the Amsterdam office. Kean joins from ING Real Estate Select, where he was an investment manager.
Squire Sanders Hammonds
Stephen Nelson, a corporate partner in the law firm’s London office, has permanently relocated to Moscow. Nelson is a Russian and Hungarian speaker who specialises in transactions in Russia, CIS, central and eastern Europe, the Middle East and Asia.
Aon Hewitt
The HR consultancy has appointed Issiah Sakhabuth to its global benefits practice, based in London. She joins from KPMG, where she was an international pensions specialist.
Legal & General Property
The institutional property fund manager has hired Adam Kerr as its head of transactions. Kerr’s appointment is part of a management restructure. He has over 23 years of investment experience, including at Stone Property Partners.
