CITY MOVES | WHO’S SWITCHING JOBS
Akin Gump
Vlad Sourkov has joined Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld as a partner and head of the firm’s Russian real estate practice. He joins the law firm from CMS Russia, where he was head of the firm’s real estate practice. Other members of his team are expected to join Akin Gump in Moscow in the coming weeks. Sourkov has recently advised Siemens on a real estate deal and a leading European bank on a syndicated financing into Russia.
Markel International
Paul Jenks has joined the board of the specialist insurer. Jenks has worked at Markel International since 2001, most recently as managing director of the marine and energy division.
KPMG
Dr Marc van Grondelle has been appointed as head of KPMG’s joint venture practice in the UK and Europe. Van Grondelle is a specialist in JV governance, having worked for nearly 20 years on oil and gas and manufacturing joint ventures in Africa, Australia, India, Europe and the former Soviet Union.
GAM
The fund manager has appointed Anthony Lawler as a member of the senior management and the investment management committees of its multi-manager group. Most recently Lawler was head of portfolio management at Man Group; prior to that, he was head of hedge fund research at Glenwood Capital Investments.
BT
The telecoms business has hired Alex Green to drive the next-generation TV offering, focusing on BT Vision and the company’s involvement in the YouView service. Green joins from Virgin Media, where he was executive director, commercial, TV and online.
London City Airport
Richard Gooding, chief executive of London City Airport, will step down from his executive role in early 2012 and join the board as a non-executive director. He will be succeeded by Declan Collier, currently chief executive of the Dublin Airport Authority.
FIM Services
The alternative investment manager specialising in commercial forestry and renewable energy has hired Edward Anderson-Bickley as a fund manager. He previously established his own real estate-focused investment consultancy.
