Julie Melia has joined the legal and fiduciary services firm as a partner and co-head of its property law group. She joins from Walkers, where she was a partner and head of the Jersey property team. Melia has over 20 years’ experience as a senior advocate and specialises in all aspects of Jersey property.
Cazenove Capital
The investment firm has appointed Stephen Lucas as head of European sales. He joins from GAM London, where served as client director and worked on strategies across the UK, Europe, Australasia and the US. Lucas was also previously business development director at Augustus Asset Managers and Julius Baer Investments.
Jones Day
The law firm has announced the appointment of two new partners. Christopher Braithwaite joins from Simmons & Simmons as a finance litigation partner. He specialises in advising financial institutions on litigation and arbitration matters. Baiju Vasani joins from Crowell & Moring and serves as a trial counsel in international arbitrations involving the common and civil law legal systems.
BlackRock
Justin Brown has been appointed managing director within the investment management firm’s real estate team. He will work alongside Marcus Sperber, head of BlackRock’s international real estate team. Brown joins from UBS Global Asset Management, where he was an executive director in its global real estate team.
Citigroup
Jenny Grey has been appointed managing director, regional head of public affairs for Europe, Middle East and Africa at the banking group. She arrives in October from the Cabinet Office, which she joined in July 2008 as director of communications, before taking up her present role of executive director for government communication.
Cairn Capital
Gerrit Van Gorp has been hired to lead the asset management firm’s marketing in the Nordic and Benelux regions. He joins from Pictet Asset Management, where he has worked since 2005, latterly as chief marketing officer for Northern Europe. Van Gorp previously served as head of credit derivatives at Dow Jones Indexes.
NYSE Euronext
Patrick Birley has been appointed chief commercial officer at the financial markets operator’s new full-service clearing house in London. He will report to Mark Ibbotson, executive vice president of global clearing.
