Virgin Money
The banking division of the Virgin Group has appointed Sir David Clementi to the Virgin Money board as chairman to succeed the late Sir Brian Pitman. Clementi was chairman of Prudential from 2002 to 2008 and deputy governor and a member of the Monetary Policy Committee at the Bank of England from 1997 to 2002. Prior to joining the BoE, Clementi worked at Kleinwort Benson for 22 years, rising to chief executive and then chairman.
Norton Rose
The law firm has appointed Patrick Foss and Chris Zavos, formerly of Barlow, Lyde & Gilbert, as partners in the London office. Both lawyers are partners in BLG’s marine, energy and trade practice.
Livingstone
The international investment banking boutique has appointed Tony Hynes as a food industry adviser in its consumer team. Hynes retired from his role as COO of Greencore earlier this year.
Chemring Group
The defence group has appointed Vanda Murray as non-executive director and Sarah Ellard as group legal director. Murray is currently non-executive director of Carillion, The Manchester Airport Group and Microgen. Murray is the former UK managing director of Ultraframe and former chief executive of Blick.
JKX Oil & Gas
Alastair Ferguson will join the board as non-executive director, effective from 1 November. Ferguson recently retired from the position of executive vice-president at TNK-BP, after leading the firm’s gas and power business in Russia and Ukraine for eight years. Nigel Moore, chairman of the Audit Committee, will take over the role of senior independent director from Lord Oxford, who will remain on the board.
Pernod Ricard
Denis O’Flynn, managing director, Ireland at Irish Distillers, has been appointed as managing director of Pernod Ricard UK, effective from 17 October.
PwC
PwC has appointed Keith McCarthy to its forensics team, effective from 1 January 2012. McCarthy joins from the Serious Fraud Office, where he was chief investigator and executive board member.
