Parker Fitzgerald
Parker Fitzgerald (PFG), the specialist management consultancy, has appointed Patrick Gormley (pictured) to its executive board. Patrick will lead the firm’s global digital practice, which focuses on transforming the risk management and regulatory compliance functions of financial institutions through digital innovation, robotics, artificial intelligence and new technologies such as blockchain. Patrick joins PFG from Capco, where most recently he was managing partner of the global digital practice, which is based in New York. Prior to this, Patrick held the position of chief operating officer of Capco after joining from Accenture. Patrick’s appointment comes as PFG strengthens its digital offering in direct response to the growing need for firms to leverage new technologies to transform their organisations, and the way in which they manage the associated risks.
Unilever
Henry Schirmer has been appointed as senior vice president, finance at Unilever Europe. He succeeds Gijsbert de Zoeten who will be responsible for Unilever’s global zero based budgeting programme. Schirmer started in 1990 as management trainee for Unilever and has built his career in various different roles, inside and outside Unilever, lastly as senior vice president, finance for Unilever’s North American operations.
Niu Solutions
Niu Solutions, a provider of managed IT services, has announced the appointment of Sean Shepley as its new chief operating officer to “enhance its capabilities in delivering robust and secure services to clients”. Sean brings almost 30 years of IT industry experience to the role, ranging from hands-on work with grassroots IT operations. He joins from Computacenter, where he held the position of managed infrastructure services director. Previously, Sean held the title of operations director at Computacenter. Prior to that, he held management positions with BT, IBM, and NTL.
Ashurst
International law firm Ashurst has named Yann Alix as a partner in its resources team. Yann, who joins from Herbert Smith Freehills, is an English and French qualified lawyer with more than ten years' experience in the resources industries. He has a particular focus on the mining and upstream oil and gas sectors in Africa and specialises in cross-border mergers and acquisitions, project development, foreign direct investments and international trade and development.
