Quinn Emanuel Urquhart & Sullivan
Quinn Emanuel Urquhart & Sullivan has appointed Mark Hastings as a partner based in the firm's London office. He had previously been a partner at Addleshaw Goddard where he was head of the firm's civil fraud group. Mark has been retained to represent clients in a number of the largest cases to come before the English courts. His practice includes complex fraud and trust litigations, contractual and warranty disputes and shareholder disputes. He is highly experienced in executing and advising on pre-action third party disclosure orders, freezing injunctions and search orders on large-scale commercial litigation matters, many of which involve cross-border issues and proceedings in other jurisdictions. He has particular expertise in litigation originating in Russia and the Middle East.
The Commonwealth Enterprise and Investment Council
The Commonwealth Enterprise and Investment Council (CWEIC), a body dedicated to the promotion of trade and investment in the Commonwealth, has appointed Richard Burge as its new chief executive. Richard, who is due to take up his post at CWEIC in the spring of 2017, currently heads up Wilton Park, the UK Foreign and Commonwealth Office’s agency for dialogue on international policy. In addition, he acts as a commissioner for the Commonwealth Scholarships Commission, and is a member of the board of the FCO Diplomatic Academy.This experience – combined with previous responsibilities as chief executive of the Countryside Alliance, director general of the Zoological Society of London and nearly 10 years in various roles at the British Council – means that Burge is well-equipped to play a critical role in the Commonwealth’s future prosperity.
M&G Investments
M&G Investments has appointed Neil Donnelly as chief compliance pfficer. Neil joins from Pioneer Investments, where he has spent the last 14 years, most recently as global head of compliance. Neil is due to begin his new role in February. Neil has 16 years of experience in compliance and related functions, managing teams in the UK, Europe and Asia. A lawyer by training, Neil was called to the Irish Bar in 1994 and spent his early career first with KPMG and then with legal firm Norton Rose.
PCFG
PCFG, the AIM quoted finance house, has appointed Timothy Franklin as a non-executive director. Timothy's career spans over 30 years with both building societies and banks. He has held a variety of roles on boards and board committees and is currently a non-executive director of the Post Office which, with 11,800 branches, is the largest financial services retailer by number of outlets in the UK. He is also currently senior independent director of HM Land Registry. Timothy has previously held a number of senior executive roles at Co-operative Financial Services, Britannia Building Society and Barclays Bank.
