eGym
Sir George W. Buckley, the former chief executive of 3M, is joining the Munich-based sports technology company eGym as its chairman. Founded in 2010 in Munich, eGym uses a combination of connected gym equipment and cloud-based software to provide a fully data- and software-driven gym experience.
Sir George steered US conglomerate 3M for seven years from 2005 to 2012. During that time, he increased the market value of the company behind Post-it notes and Scotch tape from $60bn (£46bn) to $150bn. Before that he was chief executive of Brunswick Corporation, the parent company of Life Fitness, the world’s biggest gym equipment maker, which has given him a long history and knowledge of working in the health and fitness sector.
Currently, Sir George is chairman of the $13bn revenue Stanley Black & Decker business, chairman of the UK engineering company Smiths Group and a board member of PepsiCo and Hitachi Ltd. He is also a member of Schillings Advisory Board, the UK-based international reputation and privacy consultancy.
REM
Real Estate Management (REM) has appointed Derek Rossenrode as General Manager of Shard Quarter. Derek will be responsible for driving service excellence in operations and facilities management for the occupiers and visitors of Shard Quarter, which includes The Shard, The News Building and the new residential building currently under construction, Shard Place.
Derek joins REM from Savills Management Resources where he was property and retail director for Argent’s mixed-use scheme at King’s Cross. Prior to this, Derek oversaw development of the prestigious Green Park business park in Reading, as client services director, having spent several years with CBRE as general manager of Birmingham’s iconic landmark, The Cube.
Derek has extensive retail and service led experience following his time in retail management working for the Edcon group based in Southern Africa, he has held numerous operational management positions including taking a lead role at Bicester Village and at Parkway Shopping Centre in Newbury as Centre Director.
BSI
BSI, the business standards company, today announced the appointment of Harold Pradal as group commercial director on the group executive with immediate effect. as the group commercial director, which is a new role, Harold will be responsible for shaping and delivering BSI’s vision, commercial strategy and key initiatives to support business growth across all business streams, sectors and geographies.
