SHEPHERD AND WEDDERBURN
Katie Russell (pictured right) and Caroline Shand become partners at law firm Shepherd and Wedderburn, as it bids to strengthen its position in employment and in the real estate and infrastructure sectors. Having trained at Shepherd and Wedderburn, Katie spent over six years working in the City before returning three years ago. She has spearheaded the employment practice’s international activities, working with clients in the UK and abroad, who have an international or mobile workforce. Caroline joined Shepherd and Wedderburn’s real estate and infrastructure practice through the company’s acquisition of Scottish firm Tods Murray in October 2014. Dual qualified in both Scots and English law, Caroline regularly works on the Scottish side of cross-border portfolio acquisitions and financing deals alongside English lead counsel.
DLA PIPER
DLA Piper has appointed Paul Reeskamp as a partner in its Intellectual Property & Technology (IPT) group. He joins the firm together with associate Marijn van der Wal on 1 January from Dutch IP boutique, Klos Morel Vos & Reeskamp, where he was a partner and headed up the patent litigation group. Prior to that, Paul was a partner and head of the Amsterdam IP group at Allen & Overy.
ADDLESHAW GODDARD
Addleshaw Goddard is bolstering its corporate finance practice with the appointment of Giles Distin from Squire Patton Boggs. The appointment is in line with the firm’s growth of its City-based practice and provides greater support across the spectrum of its corporate finance and public M&A clients in the City. Giles has advised on UK public company transactions including takeovers, floats, reverse takeovers and public equity fundraisings on both the Main Market and the Aim Market of the London Stock Exchange. Giles was previously on secondment as assistant secretary at the Takeover Panel.
MERCER
Mercer has appointed Wayne Davidson as a senior consultant in its investment business. Wayne will head up a team of 20 analysts and consultants in Mercer’s London office and manage large client portfolios as the firm continues to grow its investment advisory business. He joins from Deloitte, where he worked for nine years most recently leading its London investment consulting business. In this role Wayne advised some of Deloitte’s largest pension fund clients, both trustee and sponsor, on strategic investment advice and deficit funding solutions.
