Grit Real Estate Income
Grit Real Estate Income Group, a leading pan-African real estate company, has appointed Sir Samuel Esson Jonah as an independent non-executive director. Jonah, aged 69, is one of Africa’s leading businessmen and internationally recognised as a leading business executive. He is currently executive chairman of Jonah Capital Limited, an investment holding company in South Africa, and is former executive president of Anglogold Ashanti. Born and educated in Ghana, he obtained a Master’s degree in management from Imperial College, London in 1977, following which he worked for Ashanti Goldfields and became chief executive in 1986, overseeing its growth into a multinational company. An honorary knighthood was conferred on him by the Queen in 2003, and in 2006 he was awarded Ghana’s highest national award, the Companion of the Order of the Star. Currently, Jonah serves on the boards of various public and private companies, including Vodafone Group. He was formerly a director of The Standard Bank Group, Lonmin and a member of the Advisory Council of the President of the African Development Bank. He brings extensive experience of business in Africa, and has advised several heads of state.
S4 Capital
S4 Capital has appointed Poran Malani as director of its Indian operation. Poran’s experience spans 30 years with Ogilvy, McCann, and Coca-Cola. Sir Martin Sorrell’s vehicle, S4 Capital – which merged with Mediamonks and Mightyhive last year – is developing a faster, better, cheaper, unitary model for new era/new age advertising and marketing. Poran spent nine years as president of Ogilvy South India and built the global hub in Bangalore for Lenovo’s worldwide account, as well as IBM and SCJ. Victor Knaap, chief executive at Mediamonks and executive director of S4 Capital, said: “With years of experience, Poran is perfectly equipped to bolster our presence in this incredibly vibrant market.”
Beaufort Investment
Beaufort Investment has promoted Shane Balkham to the position of chief investment officer. He was previously head of portfolio construction and research. Emma Clarke, who joined Beaufort Investment in 2016 from Mazars as senior investment analyst, has been promoted to replace Shane as head of fund research.
In addition, Beaufort Investment has appointed Paul Freedman and Cormac Nevin as investment analysts. Paul has joined from Charles Stanley Wealth Management, where he was a multi-asset associate portfolio manager. Cormac, who has worked in financial services since 2012, has joined Beaufort Investment from Red Deer, having previously worked at SECOR Asset Management.
