CFA Institute
The investment professionals’ body has appointed Paul Smith as president and chief executive. He was managing director for Asia-Pacific and global head of institutional partnerships at the CFA Institute. Smith has also held senior positions at Bank of Bermuda, HSBC, and Asia Alternative Asset Partners.
Societe Generale Private Banking
Eric Verleyen has been appointed global chief investment officer of Societe Generale’s private banking division. Based in London, he was previously group chief investment officer of Societe Generale Private Banking Hambros, and also becomes deputy head of portfolio management solutions. Verleyen has formerly held positions at Sakura Bank and KBL Group.
Kames Capital
The investment management business has appointed Peter Ball as director of institutional business and also as head of business development for Kames Capital’s parent Aegon Asset Management. Ball initially started working for Kames in March 2014 as a consultant, and has previously held senior positions at JLT Employee Benefits, and JP Morgan Asset Management.
Mole Valley Asset Management
John Baillie has been appointed portfolio manager at the asset management firm. He joins from Societe Generale, where he was a director and headed up its pan-European retail sector team. Baillie has also formerly worked as head of retail at Cazenove & Co.
Nutmeg
The online investment management service has appointed Scott Eblen as chief product officer. He joins from Google, where he spent over six years developing products.
Fox Williams
The law firm has announced the appointment of Andrew Woolf to its corporate group. He joins from Irwin Mitchell, where he was head of corporate in its London office. Woolf has a particular interest in the financial services and technology sectors.
UBP
The private bank has appointed Koon Chow as senior macro and FX strategist in its emerging markets fixed income team in London. He joins from Barclays, where he was managing director heading up emerging markets strategy. Chow has also held roles at Credit Suisse and Idealglobal.
