John Simpson has been appointed managing director of the bank’s motor finance division, which operates under the Moneyway brand. Simpson’s 30-year career has seen him take senior roles at GE Capital Woodchester, Manheim Retail Services and Manheim Europe.

Des McDaid joins the bank as head of savings. He has over 25 years of experience, having held senior positions at the Paragon Group and ING Direct.
Legal & General Investment Management
Mark Benstead has been appointed senior portfolio manager within the asset manager’s UK credit team. He joins from Axa Investment Managers, where he was head of UK credit. Prior to that, he held senior roles at Royal Bank of Canada.
Schroders
Sheila Nicoll has been appointed head of public policy at the asset management company. She was previously senior adviser at EY and director of conduct policy at the Financial Services Authority.
20 Essex Street
Christopher Hancock QC and Duncan Matthew QC have been appointed as joint heads of chambers at 20 Essex Street. Both have practices in commercial litigation and arbitration.
Coutts
The wealth division of the Royal Bank of Scotland has appointed Hind Bahwan, Raja Easa Al Gurg and Lama Al Sulaiman to its Middle East advisory board. Bahwan is founder and chair of Bahwan CyberTek group, while Al Gurg is managing director of Easa Saleh Al Gurg group. Al Sulaiman is vice-chair and board member of the Jeddah Chamber of Commerce.

Janet Thomas has taken up the position of president of the professional organisation. Thomas is managing director of Infinity Capital Partners. She has held roles at ABN AMRO, Citigroup and Bank of America Merrill Lynch.

Finella Fogarty has been appointed business restructuring partner at the UK law firm. Fogarty joins from DLA Piper, where she held the role of legal director.
