Transatlantic law firm Womble Bond Dickinson (WBD) has appointed Audrey Koh as a partner in the firm’s London office. Specialising in white collar crime, Audrey will strengthen the firm’s key sectors of expertise, in particular financial institutions, energy and natural resources, pharma, healthcare, manufacturing, real estate and technology. Audrey represents clients in US, UK and multinational regulatory investigations, including those brought by the US Department of Justice, the US Office of Foreign Assets Control, the US Commodity Futures Trading Commission, the US Federal Reserve, the UK Serious Fraud Office (where she spent 16 months on secondment), the UK Competition and Markets Authority and various other international regulators. She has led numerous cross-border investigations focused on anti-bribery laws, for example the US Foreign Corrupt Practices Act and the UK Bribery Act, sanctions, financial fraud and revenue recognition in countries such as Russia, China, France, Switzerland, Mozambique, South Africa, Iraq, UAE, Australia, the UK and US. Audrey also advises clients on anti-bribery, anti-corruption, sanctions and corporate governance compliance, due diligence and related training.

Deezer

Deezer has appointed Laurence Miall-d’Août as its chief commercial officer. Laurence will be based in London and responsible for Deezer’s B2B activities around the world, including local and global partnerships, business development and advertising sales, as well as public relations. She joins Deezer on 2 April. Laurence joins Deezer from Liberty Global, where she worked the past three years as vice president of advanced data and advertising. Prior to Liberty Global, Laurence was chief executive at TVbeat, and spent over 10 years at Modern Times Group in various roles including as executive vice president of FreeTV, co-managing director of the UK operations and chief executive of PayTV in Russia and CEE.

BBC

Shirley Garrood will join the BBC board as a non-executive director and chair of the Audit and Risk Committee in July. Shirley will replace Simon Burke when his term ends on 3 July. She joins on a four-year term. Shirley was chief financial officer of Henderson Group from 2009 to 2013. She is currently senior independent director, deputy chair and chair of the Audit Committee at Esure Group, and senior independent director and chair of the Risk Committee at Hargreaves Lansdown. As well as working in financial roles, Shirley was previously chief operating officer at Henderson Group and at Morley Fund Management (part of Aviva). She also served as a governor of the Peabody Trust housing association.
