P-Solve
P-Solve, part of River and Mercantile Group, has appointed Ajeet Manjrekar as co-head of P-Solve alongside Ross Leach. Ajeet is re-joining P-Solve, having previously worked with the company as an investment consultant and principal until 2007. He subsequently worked for Deutsche Bank’s Asset Management business and spin-off Global Thematic Partners. Ajeet is an actuary with 18 years’ experience in the investment industry. He has worked extensively with institutional investors in the UK and overseas, developing innovative solutions. While at Deutsche Bank he played a key role bringing together teams from different backgrounds to address unanticipated but emerging client needs, from designing capital protection solutions for Defined Contribution schemes to helping foster US pension schemes’ usage of liability-driven investment.
Shoosmiths
National law firm Shoosmiths has appointed four partners from City firms as part of its planned growth strategy in London. Corporate partner Amit Nayyar joins from Hogan Lovells bringing experience of high-profile buy-outs, bolt-on acquisitions, management incentive plans and exits for domestic and multi-jurisdictional transactions. Tim Johnson joins as a planning partner from Charles Russell Speechlys to advise on large scale complex residential led mixed use developments. Environmental specialist Angus Evers joins after heading up the European environmental law practice at King & Wood Mallesons for the past nine years. Joining the real estate team from Hogan Lovells as a property litigation partner is Ed John who has over 17 years of experience in real estate disputes.
Edmond de Rothschild Group
Stephen Rothwell has joined the Edmond de Rothschild Group as head of private merchant banking in London. He is in charge of developing and growing the company's UK private merchant banking business, which was launched in 2013 to serve the personal and corporate financial requirements of wealthy UK and international clients. Stephen will report to Eric Coutts, chief executive officer of Edmond de Rothschild UK. Previously, Stephen was managing director and head of private wealth management at Kleinwort Benson, where he was a member of the management committee. Prior to joining Kleinwort Benson in 2012, Stephen was a director and head of business development at Schroders Private Banking, which he joined in 2002, having started his investment career at Mercury Asset Management in 1996.
Kames Capital
Kames Capital has hired Robin Black as an investment manager within the firm’s Edinburgh-based equities team. Robin has 21 years’ financial services experience. He joins Kames from investment banking and financial services group Macquarie where he has worked as a managing director in the company’s Hong Kong division since 2010, responsible for global sales of Pan Asian equities. Prior to Macquarie, he was managing director – head of Asian and Japanese sales into North America at Deutsche Bank, based in New York. Robin has also held roles at Citigroup and Merrill Lynch as a director in Japanese equity sales, and at Martin Currie where he was an investment manager.
