Universities Superannuation Scheme
Jeremy Hill will be returning to the pension scheme trustee company, taking up the role of group general counsel. A qualified solicitor, Hill first worked for the firm between 2009 and 2011. He has previously held leadership roles at Morgan Stanley Investment Management and Merrill Lynch Investment Management, along with positions at the London Stock Exchange and Marie Currie Investment Management.
Standard Chartered
Michael Vrontamitis has been appointed head of trade and product management. He has been at the bank for 19 years, and his new position will see him based in Hong Kong.
Daiwa Capital Markets
Christopher Brown has been appointed head of investment banking for Europe and the Middle East. The international investment arm of Japan’s Daiwa Securities Group is also appointing two individuals to take over Brown’s previous role as joint head of fixed income. Antony Baldwin is currently managing director and deputy head of fixed income, and Tatsuji Nagano will be joining the London office from Daiwa Securities in Tokyo.
Morrison & Foerster
Paul Friedman has been named by the law firm as its first managing partner for Europe. He has been with the firm for 32 years and will be based in London.
MetLife
The insurance company has appointed Helen Thomas as head of wealth management marketing. She joins from Aviva, where she worked for 17 years.
Cantor Fitzgerald Europe
Eric Bourguignon has joined the investment bank as director of consumer and retail for its corporate finance division. He was most recently a senior vice-president in the retail coverage team at HSBC investment banking.
Virgin Media
Annie Brooks has been appointed director of mobile by the internet and telecommunications provider. She was previously head of mobile product and commercial, having joined the company from Cable & Wireless’s corporate contract mobile business in 1999.
