Christmas party shoes give Kurt Geiger a boost as sales rise 26pc
Footwear and accessories retailer Kurt Geiger reported a bumper Christmas yesterday, announcing 14 per cent growth in like-for-like sales for the 2014 festive period.
Party shoes led the way, with footwear in its occasion category enjoying an increase in sales of 26 per cent and Kurt Geiger’s handbags proved a popular gift, with sales up 233 per cent.
Online sales also saw a rise with a 35 per cent increase in sales and the brand sold 6,000 pairs of shoes on Christmas Day, up 130 per cent from the year before.
“These latest figures have topped off a fantastic year of growth for Kurt Geiger,” said chief executive Neil Clifford.
“The Christmas period is always busy for our business, but we’re delighted to have delivered solid results when so many retailers have suffered from mild weather and tough trading conditions. The combination of great product, a signature in-store experience and a strong online presence has paid off and these Christmas figures create a strong foundation to embrace the year ahead.”
In addition to the figures released, Kurt Geiger also announced Dutch supermodel Lara Stone as the face of the brand for 2015, unveiling the Everything but the Dress collection.
“This latest campaign has taken inspiration from the tropics and brought it to London,” creative director, Rebecca Farrar-Hockley said. “Lara has the perfect look for the brand.”
Last year saw Kurt Geiger embark on an international expansion, opening flagship stores in China, Thailand and Singapore.
There are a further eight stores planned for openings in Asia in 2015.
