Cheltenham Festival betting tips: It’s your Duty to take on Elliott hotpot with Monalee
TRAINER Gordon Elliott has already taken this week by storm and many expect him to land the Albert Bartlett Novices’ Hurdle (2.50pm) with Death Duty.
The six-year-old is unbeaten in all four starts over hurdles to date and arrives here at Cheltenham as Ireland’s best novice.
His trainer has already billed him as potentially the best he has ever trained and he could easily start shorter than the 2/1 currently on offer with 188BET.
However, all those wins have come on soft ground and the conditions he is set to encounter this afternoon will be a lot faster.
He looks a real grinder and may not have much of a finishing kick. I’m prepared to take him on with MONALEE, who still looks value at 9/1.
Even though Henry De Bromhead’s runner finished behind Death Duty a couple of starts back and meets the favourite on worse terms, there are grounds to fancy a reversal.
Monalee looked much better when stepped up to three miles last time and the decent ground will also play more to his strengths.
It’s also hard to rule out Wholestone and Augusta Kate, but I’m going to have a saver on Tom George’s THE WORLDS END at 10/1.
He may not look good enough on paper, but he keeps improving and is ultra-tough and brave.
If you are having a bet today, do so with 188BET as they are refunding your bets on fallers up to £25 per race.
