Charity Day lures celebs including Lindsay Lohan, Davina McCall, Mayor of London Sadiq Khan and Joanna Lumley to BGC Partners’ trading floor
BGC Partners’ trading floor was overrun by comedians, Olympians, film stars and London’s mayor yesterday at the brokerage’s annual charity fundraising day.
The gaggle of celebs roaming BGC’s labyrinth of computer screens and phone speakers to clinch the cash for this year’s charities included actor Tom Hardy, garden-bridge pusher Joanna Lumley, supermodel Jodie Kidd, TV sports presenter Gabby Logan and silver Olympic medal-winning cyclist Mark Cavendish.
Actress Lindsay Lohan arrived fashionably late to call in the multi-million-pound orders (of course), while Location, Location, Location’s star presenter Phil Spencer circulated the trading floor with glee.

It was the 12th such event for the firm, in which 100 per cent of revenues from the day are donated to selected causes and the Cantor Fitzgerald Relief Fund.

The event commemorates the 658 Cantor and 61 Eurobrokers employees who lost their lives in the 9/11 attacks and has raised $125m since its inception.
Causes this year included Action Medical Research, Caudwell Children, Ellenor and Muscular Dystrophy UK.
“This isn’t a real job,” comedian and one of the day’s comperes John Bishop proclaimed to the trading floor.
"He's got a sexy voice," Davina McCall said, as she focused on the most important part of closing a deal as she took to the trading floor.

The celebrities were generally keen beans, enthusiastic to try and mimic the tricks of the trade – though The Capitalist would only give them a one out of 10 for their shouting technique.
If watching traders for a day teaches you anything, it’s that you’ll need a good pair of lungs to close those deals.
