Chapel Down looks to rise £1m for Curious Drinks on crowdfunding site Seedrs
Curious Drinks, the beer and cider brewery belong to British wine-maker Chapel Down has launched a crowdfunding campaign with Seedrs.
The brewer, whose offerings include beers made with champagne yeast, is hoping to raise £1m in its equity funding to build a combined brewery and bottling plant in Kent, which it hopes will be operational by December 2016.
Chapel Down estimates its market capitalisation at present is £28m and values Curious Drinks at £16m.
Investors will receive shares amounting to 5.88 per cent in Curious Drinks, Chapel Down's subsidiary. The investment will qualify for EIS and VCT tax relief.
In 2014, Chapel Down broke records when it raised £2.9m in 10 days from a funding campaign on Seedrs that eventually raised £4m, which it used to plant a further 82 aces of vineyard.
In addition, Stewart Gilliland, currently executive chairman of food wholesaler Booker, and Rachel Montague-Ebbs, from Kent-based soft-fruit supplier CPM, are joining the Curious Drinks board.
