Channel 4 marketing boss Dan Brooke to step down
Channel 4 chief marketing and communications officer Dan Brooke is stepping down after eight years, the company has announced.
Brooke will leave the broadcaster early next year to start a new marketing and communications business, which will focus on “helping companies be mission and purpose driven”.
“I have been lucky enough to have the most wonderful job, in a company that I adore, for many years,” said Brooke.
“I’m proud of the things my incredibly talented marketing and communications teams have achieved and that the most ground-breaking of this work has achieved such powerful results and consistent global recognition.”
Brooke joined Channel 4 in 2010 in the newly-created role of head of marketing, communications and corporate relations.
He had previously served seven years at the company as head of marketing for Film4 and managing director of digital channels.
As board champion for diversity and inclusion, Brooke led a drive that saw Channel 4 voted Best Diverse Company at the 2016 National Diversity Awards.
The company has also launched a Diversity in Advertising award, which grants an airtime ad slot worth £1m to campaigns embracing inclusivity. This year’s prize was scooped up by the Royal Air Force and Engine for a campaign that challenged negative stereotypes about women.
Brooke also oversaw a major rebrand of the broadcaster’s channels earlier this year.
Channel 4 chief executive Alex Mahon said: “Dan has made a huge and far-reaching contribution to the life and success of Channel 4 over many years.
“I’d like to thank Dan personally for the support and advice he has offered me in my first year and, on behalf of the whole organisation, wish him the very best with his future plans.”
