Change at the top of Goldman Sachs
Goldman Sachs’ long-time chief financial officer David Viniar will retire at the end of January and be replaced by Harvey Schwartz, the global co-head of securities, the investment bank said last night.
Schwartz, 48, is among a small group of executives who are considered candidates for the top position when Lloyd Blankfein eventually leaves, although he has said that he has no intention of stepping down in the near term.
Schwartz is due to start his job at the end of January, ending Viniar’s reign as the longest-serving chifef financial officer on Wall Street.
Viniar, 57, will join Goldman Sachs’ board of directors as a non-independent director after the transition.
