Biggest bottle of English sparkling wine signed by Damien Hirst yours for £15k

There will be a very special addition to Christie’s second annual “Out of the Ordinary” sale tomorrow that will put the stereotype of City workers loving sparkling wine to the ultimate test. 

 

The award-winning winery Chapel Down has produced the biggest bottle of sparkling wine ever, weighing 26kg and is the equivalent of 10 magnums, or 120 glasses. 

 

And just in case that wasn’t special enough, the bottle has also been signed by four leading British artists: Damien Hirst, Tracey Emin, Antony Gormley and Edward de Waal. The signatures are accompanied with a sketch by each of the artists as an homage to their career and practice.

 

The bottle, aptly named “The Nebuchad­nezzar”, is currently on display at Christie’s South Kensing­ton with an estimated price of £10,000-£15,000. 

 

All proceeds will go towards the Turner Contemporary’s Catalyst Endowment Fund, which must reach a £1m target by March 2015. Every £1 raised will be matched by extra funding for the Catalyst Endowment Fund.
