Celebrity hotspot San Carlo eyes expansion as its turnover jumps
ITALIAN restaurant group San Carlo said sales and profits jumped in the last year as it looks to gobble up more sites in the UK and overseas.
The family-run chain, which counts celebrities including footballer Frank Lampard and rock stars Liam and Noel Gallagher among its diners, said turnover increased by 12.5 per cent to £46.2m for the year to 30 September.
Pre-tax profits rose to £2.1m from £1.9m last time.
The company, which opened its first restaurant in Birmingham, operates 17 sites across the UK as well as three overseas in Bangkok, Kuwait and Beirut.
It is targeting sales of £55m this year after opening a Cicchetti restaurant in London’s Covent Garden and a Fumo cocktail bar in Manchester at the end of last year.
It has recently secured sites in Qatar and Bahrain and also plans to open in Istanbul and China.
