Cash devolved to four regions
GREATER Manchester will be allowed to keep extra cash raised from business rates collected from local shops and businesses as part of a move by the government to create a “Northern Powerhouse”.
The pilot scheme, announced in the chancellor’s Budget yesterday, will hand four regions including Cambridgeshire, Peterborough and Cheshire East, the power to retain any extra business rates growth from April onwards.
The trial could be eventually rolled out to other regions.
