Carnival to resume cruises in the US later this year
Cruise operator Carnival is pressing ahead with plans to sail from the US later this year, as Covid restrictions in the country are eased.
Carnival has announced plans for eight of its ships to sail from California and Florida from September.
The world’s largest cruise operator will sail from Los Angeles to Mexico and Hawaii between September 25 and November 28 using its Majestic Princess and Grand Princess Ships.
The Ruby Princess is due to depart San Francisco to Mexico and Hawaii, while other ships will sail between Fort Lauderdale and the Caribbean.
The Covid-19 pandemic and its subsequent restrictions hit the cruise operator hard, having revealed a $2bn loss in the first quarter of its financial year.
Jan Swartz, president of Princess Cruises, said: “As we continue our return to service, it is a thrill for us to be able to bring more cruise vacation options to our travel-starved guests.”
