NEW SLK 55 AMG TO SET YOU BACK UNDER £55,000
Mercedes–Benz has announced prices for its powerful SLK 55 AMG. The top of the line AMG model has a new 5.5-litre V8 engine good for 421bhp which can propel the car from 0-62mph in 4.6 seconds. The car produces 30 per cent less emissions and uses 30 per cent less fuel than its predecessor; on-the-road price is £54,950.
RENAULT PREPARES TO UNLEASH ITS LATEST… TWINGO
Renault’s new Twingo is about to go on sale. Priced from £10,350 on-the-road – for the Dynamique 1.2 16V 75 model – the new Twingo is capable of 55.4mpg (combined) and has a CO2 emission figure of 119g/km so there’s no road tax to pay in the first year. The car comes with a four-year/100,000 mile warranty.

According to a report in car industry mag Autocar, GM and VW can’t agree on who sold more cars last year. In 2011, GM claims to have sold more than 9m vehicles and Volkswagen 8.1m. But VW claims it didn’t count cars sold in China, while GM did. Either way, Toyota – who was the biggest selling manufacturer – is now in third place.
